Fundraising Plan:
The foremost principle is
that our fundraising plan is founded on a diverse group of individual donors.
On an annual basis, individuals give more money to charity than foundations and
corporations combined and are not as susceptible to business downturns or a
change in giving guidelines.
We identify and inform our
potential donors through brochures and presentations at numerous organizations
such as Veterans of Foreign Wars, Rotary, Eagles, Elks, and men and women’s golf
clubs at many golf courses.
We make personal contact with
various local business such as those in the automobile industry, gaming
industry, construction, medical, and real estate to name just a few of our
contact areas.
We also have golf clinics and
exhibitions, golf tournaments and various other special events that not only
inform potential donors, but also involve them in our activities.
We have a “ friends members list”
that recognizes those who have contributed $100.00 or more to the Friends of
American Lake Veterans Golf Course. It’s an accumulating amount and may be
added to at any time. This enables us to recognize all of the contributors in
our newsletter and assists us in upgrading their individual pledges to a higher
level each year.
Corporate Friends:
Many types
of businesses have assisted the “Friends” in a variety of beneficial activities
in the past. Local and regional businesses generously donated to our
fundraising events and have donated products and services for the enhancement of
the golf course. We often times solicit these “Corporate Friends” for a
specific event or project. The “Corporate Friends” are also mentioned in our
newsletter and are on our mailing list.
Foundations:
The generous
contributions of private and corporate foundations have provided more than
$139,000.00 in 2005 and 2006 to help us accomplish our goals. We apply for a
specific project and a specific amount and have been fortunate in our
endeavors. We have received grants from 9 foundations since our inception in
2004.
In Closing:
Our organization has
developed a strong board of directors with a competent and passionate staff in
place that provides the necessary administrative support for all our fundraising
activities. We have a detailed plan describing where our organization is
today and where we will be in the coming years.
We have diversified our
funding sources by combining a variety of methods to comprise our fundraising
portfolio. Our staff, our board, and our volunteers all know that once a
donation is received it is just the first step in a process of building a close
relationship with a donor from acquiring, to renewing, to upgrading the donor to
a higher level.
Sincerely,
Harold (Pepper) Roberts, President
